A Historic Summer Celebration
Founded in 2008 by local business owners, the festival has grown from a neighborhood block party into one of Philadelphia's premier summer events, regularly drawing upwards of 50,000 attendees.
William Reed, owner of Standard Tap and festival co-founder, promises an unforgettable experience this year. "It is the true grand finale for a historic summer in our city with a non-stop, ten-hour celebration of local food, beer, art, and music," Reed shared. Organizers have been working tirelessly to curate a massive footprint featuring over 250 restaurants, food trucks, beer gardens, artists, and community groups.
Eat, Drink, and Dance
The culinary lineup is nothing short of spectacular. Over 50 restaurants, bars, breweries, and food trucks will line the streets, offering everything from classic Philly street food to craft summertime cocktails. Attendees can cool off in one of the 10 expansive outdoor beer and cocktail gardens hosted by neighborhood staples like El Camino Real, Jerry's Bar, and North Bowl.
Music remains the beating heart of the 2nd Street Festival. Two main stages will anchor the event, providing live performances and DJ sets from noon until nightfall. Whether you are looking to rock out in the streets or enjoy a laid-back acoustic set, the curated lineup of local talent ensures there is a sound for everyone.
Community at the Core
While the festival is undeniably a massive party, its roots remain firmly planted in community support. Oron Daskal, co-founder of North Bowl and South Bowl, reflects on the event's evolution: "When we started this festival, we just wanted to celebrate our neighborhood and have fun doing it. It's amazing how much interest it draws now and how much life it brings to 2nd Street."
Beyond bringing foot traffic to the bustling commercial corridor, the event serves as a crucial fundraiser for the Northern Liberties Business Improvement District and the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association, helping to fund essential services for residents and business owners alike.
