InLiquid: New Art Exhibit at Park Towne Place Museum

PHILADELPHIA - InLiquid, a nonprofit arts organization based in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood, is presenting a new art exhibit at Park Towne Place Museum District Residences. The installation, from January 26 to May 12, 2024, explores the urban landscape and its inhabitants through the curated works of five Philadelphia artists.

The artists - Francis Beaty, Cimone Kind Berman, Annette Cords, Michael Morgan, and Rita Scheer - draw inspiration from the built environment by using unconventional materials like Tyvek, brick, and flashing. Their pieces reflect the interplay between cities and their residents, incorporating textiles, patterns, and textures that visually express this dialogue.

The exhibition is part of a rotating art program curated by InLiquid at Park Towne Place. Each artist brings a unique perspective rooted in architecture, archaeology, and botany, exploring the connections between construction, inhabitation, and the passage of time in cities. Whether it's Michael Morgan's use of ceramic and bricks to reflect patterns of living, Annette Cords' investigations into how we interpret visual information in our environment, or Cimone Kind Berman's glassworks inspired by aged silver mirrors in lunar landscapes, each artist offers a distinct exploration of urban living.

The opening reception on March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. lets the public engage with the artists and hear their insights. The event will start at the North Tower Gallery and continue to the West and South Tower Galleries, offering refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience the art that bridges the gap between the urban landscape and its inhabitants.
