PHILADEPHIA, PA - Philadelphia Theatre Company is going big with their return to the stage with a major World Premiere that centers around one of Philly's favorite water cooler topics - the trash. The Garbologists by Lindsay Joelle will make its Co-World Premiere by PTC at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre from November 11 to December 5th.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents The Garbologists

The playwright spent five years getting her hands dirty in the back-alleys, streets, and trenches with real-life sanitation workers to properly prepare to share the story of these essential workers.

This fresh, off-beat and super relevant comedy features two sanitation workers from different worlds that discover there's more that binds them than taking out the trash.

The characters include a white, conservative, proud union member and a Black, liberal, ivy-educated newbie who just joined the sanitation route. When they find something on the curb too valuable to throw away, they’re forced to re-evaluate each other and accept each other on their own terms.

Directed by Brooklyn-based Estefanía Fadul, The Garbologists stars Bensalem native Ngozi Anyanwu, making their Philadelphia region debut, joined by Philadelphia favorite Steven Rishard.

For this show, PTC is working on several major community programs and partnerships - including a city-wide #supportsantiationworkers campaign to show love for Philly's sanitation workers, a special night for sanitation workers and their families, a famous local artist working on turning trash cans into art, and a special event with Ya Fav Trashman.
